Restyles the login page, admin home, list pages and edit forms
Adds dark mode that follows the device setting, with a manual toggle
Folds the sidebar away on small screens
Saves unsaved form edits in the browser, with a Restore or Discard prompt
Includes AlwaysVisibleAdmin and SingletonAdmin helper classes
Works with Django 5.2 and 6.0

Replace Django or change how the admin works
Run on a Django older than 5.2 (use Adminita 0.2.0 if you cannot upgrade)
Fully fit every plugin on a phone, such as wide tables and some rich text editors
Build a separate site for your visitors. It styles the admin only

How it works

InstallRun pip install adminita in your project's environment.
AddPut "adminita" first in INSTALLED_APPS, above django.contrib.admin, and set your admin site names.
Collect and openRun collectstatic, then open /admin/ to see the new look.

The standard Django admin: it works, but it looks dated and is awkward on a phone.

The same admin with a modern layout, dark mode, a sidebar that folds away and drafts that survive a refresh.

Questions

Is it really free?

Yes. Adminita is open source under the MIT terms. You can use it in personal and commercial projects, change it and share it.

Will it break my existing admin?

It keeps the full Django admin working. Your models, permissions and admin classes stay as they are. To go back, take "adminita" out of INSTALLED_APPS.

Do I need Node.js?

No. Node.js is only needed if you want to change the theme shades and rebuild the CSS yourself.

Which Django versions work?

Django 5.2 and 6.0, with Python 3.10 or newer (3.12 or newer for Django 6.0).

Can I see it first?

Yes. The live demo at adminita.todiane.com runs Adminita, and the portfolio page shows screenshots.

Can I help improve it?
